One of my ideal outings (whether it be a friend or a family member or a date) is to go to a non-chain coffeeshop, order a latte with some cute coffee art and then talk for a few hours. Everyone around me has become so attached to technology, myself included.
The moments that are unplugged and disconnected, the moments that involve just people and talking about whatever the heck we feel like talking about— those are the moments that mean the most. Some people always say that the atmosphere eventually gets awkward because of lulls in conversation and whatnot, but isn’t that inevitable? You cannot talk for every minute of the day. It’s just impossible. Thus it’s not awkward UNTIL YOU SAY THAT IT IS. And sometimes you need that silence just to stop, think, and absorb the content.
Put the phone in your bag or pocket and put it on silent. Invest in a watch to know keep track of time. Then talk. It’s really not that bad.
